TOI-GYE is the pen name of the noted scholar Yi Hwang (16th century), an authority on neo- Confucianism. The 37 movements of the pattern refer to his birthplace on 37 latitude, the diagram represents ‘scholar’.
Red signifies Danger, cautioning the student to exercise control and warning the opponent to stay away.

Knee upward kick – Moorup Ollyo Chagi
Front kick is performed full facing with front sole (ap kumchi) finishing centre line. With side front kick the kick is performed half facing by pivoting the supporting leg to gain extra reach.

6) Self defence techniques
7) Demonstrate Left and Right Reverse Turning kick against a target
8) Adults attempt breaking a focus board using Left and then Reverse Right Turning kick
9) Adults demonstrate a choice of hand technique against a target
10) Adults given option to attempt breaking a focus board using hand technique
